-Dr. Rothenberg

An Introduction to Dental Implants

BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS, Feb. 8, 2007 -- Do you smile with your hand over your mouth to hide missing teeth?

Do you worry these gaps are affecting your social and professional lives?

Are you wearing a partial or fully removable denture that doesn't quite fit?

If you answered yes to any or all of these questions, it's time to talk to Dr. Donald Rothenberg.

ABOUT US

Dr. Rothenberg's reputation as a top dental implant dentist in Boston owes much to his   35 years in dental practice;   21 focused entirely on Reconstruction Implantology . This depth of experience allows him to offer both the surgical and reconstructive phases of implant dentistry . No referrals are made to other offices.

In other words, this is your one-stop-shop for dental implants in Boston , as well as for dental implants in Massachusetts .

ABOUT DENTAL IMPLANTS

Dental implants have rapidly become the procedure of choice to replace the roots of missing teeth and serve as a permanent anchor for tooth restoration.

To create a dental implant , Dr. Rothenberg will open your gums and place titanium cylinder implants  into the bone at the location of the missing tooth. This  implant now serves as a new root, over which your new tooth will be placed.

Until the tissue has healed, Dr. Rothenberg will use temporary splints or a partial denture to cover the surgical site . Several months later, he'll  place in your permanent crown (s) and you're all set.

SUCCESS RATE

Dr. Rothenberg has placed over 4,000 implants since 1986, yet  less then  10 of them have failed in that entire time. Nationwide studies reveal implants enjoy a 90 percent success rate; even higher when the patient has adequate bone into which the implants can be placed.

WHY USE DENTAL IMPLANTS

Your missing teeth need to be replaced not just for aesthetic purposes but also to maintain a healthy, high-functioning mouth. As soon as you lose a tooth, the adjacent teeth start to tilt into the open space. This will compromise the function of these and surrounding teeth. With nothing to prevent opposing teeth from moving, they'll begin to slide up and down, a condition known as extrusion.

Of particular importance is that the dental implant process leaves healthy teeth untouched, unlike installing bridges.

ABOUT BRIDGES

In the past, bridges were most commonly used to replace missing teeth. A permanent bridge consists of three attached porcelain crowns that are cemented into place, thus “bridging” the gap. While this method does create a lasting solution, your adjacent teeth must be cut down to accommodate the new crowns. Implants, by their very nature, do not require involvement of the surrounding teeth.

Unlike traditional crowns, you needn't worry about recurrent decay under the crown because the root is entirely replaced. Nor will you experience the discomfort of a bridge procedure as Dr. Rothenberg offers all forms of sedation dentistry.

ABOUT SEDATION DENTISTRY

Thanks to sedation dentistry, scores of “dental phobic” clients have returned to the long-feared dental chair.

To ensure you experience a low-stress and nearly pain-free dental experience, Dr. Rothenberg will work with you to identify the best anesthetic method to suit your particular situation. Various “ comfort treatments ” may include any combination of oral medications, acupuncture , behavioral methods and other alternatives. His goal is for you to achieve your best level of relaxation during treatment.
